ABOUT CURLEWIS
Curlewis is regarded as one of the most progressive and exciting public access golf courses in Australia.
Curlewis, the much-loved course of The Bellarine, was formally established on this site and officially opened for play in 1970. The 157 acres (60 hectare) site was purchased by the East Geelong Golf Club in 1947. Development at the time was restricted due to the lack of water however a firm base of couch grass was established. Since the introduction of town water, improvements have continued over the years. Throughout its development, the course has maintained a links-type character with a minimum of trees, undulating fairways, challenging bunkers and large contoured greens. To play Curlewis is to fall in love with a truly exceptional golf course.
Located just an hour from Melbourne and 15 minutes from Geelong, with stunning vistas across to Corio Bay.
Purchased in July 2015, by renowned local winery and cidery business operators, Lyndsay and David Sharp, Curlewis has rocketed up the course rankings after the new owners began investing heavily in improving the course and clubhouse.
Since that time Curlewis has been recognised as the most innovative club in Australia and was honoured to receive the inaugural “Australian Golf Digest Club Excellence Award” for their contemporary and forward-thinking approach to golf.
The Curlewis course was always highly regarded, but the new owner’s investment has seen it now being recognised as one of Golf Australia's Top 50 Australian Public Access Courses and ranked in the top four courses in Western Victoria.

The Course
With a sandy base, a minimum of trees, and naturally undulating couch fairways this Vern Morcom designed links is one of the best courses on The Bellarine. Following the opening of the course in 1970, the original design was again enhanced in 1976 by a Kevin Hartley course master plan.
In 2001, significant improvements were again made following the adoption a second master plan by renowned course architect, Michael Clayton. With challenging bunkers and firm, fast greens, it is the wind that often determines the level of playing difficulty.
The course measures 6,150 metres and is a challenging par-71/73. A challenge for players of all standards and a true test of golfing ability.
When it comes to facilities, functions and epicurean experience, the new Curlewis Clubhouse is next level.
Commanding in both scope and ambience, no detail or expense has been spared in bringing The Bellarine’s newest and most dynamic destination to life. Inside and out, charisma abounds.
Embrace spectacular views spanning fairways, greens and bay. Meander past the “Warhol Wall”. Immerse yourself in chill mojo on the grand veranda or sun drenched East Terrace.
Cutting edge AV facilities, an array of epicurean options to suit all budgets and tastes complete the picture. Ivor's Spike Bar is home to a more intimate, relaxed occasion.
Signature restaurant and larger function facility, Claribeaux, will delight with its’ creative structural form and culinary options – French influence, contemporary fusion and a keen focus on sustainable local produce. An impressive local and international beverage list guarantees a state of blissful indecision.
