Curlewis Golf Club is one of a handful of golf facilities across Australia to obtain funding since it's inception from the AGF, in association with Golf Australia to get more girls playing golf!
Scholarships are open to girls aged 10 to 16 and while the program's primary aim is to retain girls in golf by giving girls a shared golf experience, girls new to golf may also be engaged in this program should they demonstrate a commitment to learning the sport.
"This is a terrific opportunity", said Curlewis GM Jamie Brigden. "Not only will girls receive 24 coaching sessions with PGA Professional Steve Brodie, but also a one-year junior club membership that carries playing rights, to ensure girls can participate in club competitions and obtain a handicap".
The Scholarship program is in it's 4th year and will run throughout 2024 with Curlewis Golf Club working closely with golfs national body Golf Australia.
"All we ask is that applicants display a desire and willingness to improve their golf skills, obtain a handicap, play in club competitions (or at least social play) and engage in any extra-curricular activity that fosters friendships between scholarship holders".
What’s on offer
Up to eight Scholarships for girls aged 10-16 will be available in 2024
Who should apply?
- Current junior girl golfers who are keen to develop their skills and meet other junior golfers.
- Girls new to golf if they can show us they’re super keen to learn the sport.
What the AGF Scholarships provide
- 24 x coaching sessions with Curlewis popular PGA Pro, Steve Brodie
- A one-year junior club membership (complete with playing rights, which means girls can participate in club competitions and obtain a handicap).
Are there any catches?
Zero! All we ask is that applicants display a desire and willingness to improve their golf skills, obtain a handicap, play in club competitions (or at least social play) and engage in any extra-curricular activity that fosters friendships between scholarship holders.
The AGF Scholarship program is part of a national pilot that will run throughout 2024 with Curlewis Golf Club working closely with golf’s national body Golf Australia.
